This blog would actually be meaningful if you stood up to oppression and not act like a star-fucker (or lameculo, which is probably more accurate). Your glib commentary and failed attempts at humor would not go over well with, let's say, my family members suffering under the dictatorship. A dictatorship is a dictatorship, whether it's Pinochet or Castro.

I have seen the likes of you in Santiago; dazed foreigners snoozing on the tourist buses; lounging at Casa Granda with a mojito (how utterly unique); thinking that since you are there, you must know what it's like to be Cuban.

Sir, spare us the drivel. In this postmodern age your elitist thinking is very passé--and dangerous.

Thanks for the feedback, realista. I do appreciate and sympathize with the plight of Cubans on and off the island. I sure don't claim to know what it's like to be Cuban. Best, Tracey
