Thanks to Mambi Watch for mentioning Along the Malecon in a posting today. I wanted to do a little more blogging today but Tropical Storm Kay hammered the town where I live in Florida and rainwater just about came through the patio door and into the living room. But everything's under control at this hour.
It's a shame that Kay killed people in Florida - six victims so far. We could learn from the Cubans when it comes to hurricane and storm preparation. There, fatalities are usually quite low. The Cuban media does a good job informing the public when there are hurricanes. Evacuations are mandatory and most people go along with the program.
Above is a screenshot of Mambi Watch. Also above are photos I shot when Hurricane Ivan grazed the western edge of Cuba in September 2004.
