Fidel Castro on life support?

El Diario de las Americas is reporting that sources close to children and relatives of Fidel Castro say the Comandante is in a coma and on life support. The newspaper does not provide any evidence for its claim.

So will this be one of those "Dewey Defeats Truman" headlines? Or is it real?
The blog Mambi Watch says:
Sounds like another rumor. But, Diario is not a blog, and instead a good source of local information. But, even newspapers can make mistakes sometimes.

This story is getting legs but Diario Las Americas is the only one saying He is in a coma.

Are they a Nuevo Herald or a National Enquirer type operation?

Diario is a good paper. They rely on the regular international wire services (such as EFE), and their local reporting is good as well.

Some of their stories on the exile community may rely more on militant voices, and their editorials are certainly militant as well, but they generally perform decent journalism.

That's my opinion.

Without a doubt, they are more in the category of El Nuevo Herald.

I don't think Diario is a National Enquirer type operation, but its sourcing on this story is really thin.
