A tattooed gringo shares his Cuban flag

An American visitor to Cuba, left, lent his Cuban flag to another tourist in Havana on Jan. 1, 2009 - the 50th anniversary of the Cuban revolution.
Here's the photo op along Paseo del Prado in Havana
And here's a Cuban woman who just wanted to dance.

Where'd you get the pictures?

I was downtown on the anniversary and I certainly did not see anybody celebrating. Especially fat, tattood, commie gringo tourists.

It was mostly a low-key night in Havana, as I remember it. There were some fancy New Year's parties catering to mostly to foreigners - you had to pay big bucks to get in to see Cuban musicians and shows. I didn't go to any of those events. I hung out on the streets. It was pretty quiet. I think a lot of Cubans spent the night in their homes, partly out of tradition, partly because people don't have a lot of money to go around partying. I am glad I came across this bunch because I wanted to at least get some lively pictures that night. I found the group while walking toward Prado after the fireworks had ended. That's where I saw the gringo with the flag. Photos of the 21-gun salute that went on earlier are here. I also shot these of the group that night - another musician and a party girl.

Wow... that big guy looks like a tool. Seriously. A big BIG tool.
He really believes this whole commie business judging by his tattoo of James 5: 1-6 (which I will quote below for your reading pleasure)

" 1-Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. 2-Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3-Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4-Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5-You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.[a] 6-You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you."

man, I didn't know that's what the tattoo meant...
I don't know the guy, but he was nice enough when I took the pics...

I'm not saying he's not nice... I'm just saying that he's really misguided... lol

Bet you 5$ he was Canadian and I'd bet you 5$ that he was from either Toronto... or maybe, possibly even Vancouver but he was born in Toronto...

Maybe he is Canadian. I could have sworn he had American vibes, but who knows...maybe he'll see his picture and write us a note...

I hope so... I'm just curious... A lot of these guys keep popping up in Canada for some reason.
