Even the dog got tattooed

This little weenie dog has a tattoo right near his, well, you know...

Tattoos are very popular in Cuba.
But getting one can hurt, especially the first time.
This young woman isn't sure whether to laugh or cry.
She decides to tough it out.
The artist finishes the job.

how does this work in cuba, do they have tattoo artists or tattoo parlors licensed by the state charging moneda nacional or mostly home-based, with black market supplies, etc or what?

The tattoo artists I met were paid in CUCs for their work. I think that many of the artists work out of their home. They told me they have real trouble getting supplies, especially the ink gun. Many rely on friends to bring supplies from abroad. I don't know if the state licenses them or not. The artists I met weren't working in secret. Neighbors knew where they could be found and so I'm sure the government knows they are there. I'd imagine that at least some of artists pay taxes, but I don't have any information on that.

Does anyone else really not give a shit who or where this tattoo was done but rather it's a disgusting display of animal cruelty that someone gave their dog a tattoo? Really? Who the fuck are these people? They should be shot.
