I returned to the U.S. on Tuesday after covering the Havana International Fair for CubaNews, a subscription-based newsletter edited by Larry Luxner.
I wrote a live story for the publication's November issue, and plan to develop other business and financial stories based on leads I obtained during the trip.
I have been a feature writer for CubaNews since October 2008. Attending the trade show was an interesting experience. The event was held at CubaExpo, near Parque Lenin on the outskirts of Havana. Tens of thousands of Cubans attended from Nov. 1 to 6 and many found their way to exhibits where American business people passed out free samples of Skittles, Wrigley's gum and hot soup.
It was wild seeing such products as Miller Genuine Draft on display in socialist Cuba.
