Three founders of Damas de Blanco

During this photo shoot in 2003 in Havana, Laura Pollan's cats insisted on being in the picture.
Shown from left are Pollan, who died in October 2010, Yolanda Huerga, now the U.S. representative of Damas de Blanco in the U.S., and Claudia Marquez, who emigrated to Puerto Rico.
These women are three of the original 12 founders of Damas de Blanco.

Not to downplay the ladies, but that black and white cat has some prominent lips for a cat. :-)

Laura was an excellent woman. She was my rock during those difficult moments. She oponed her house to all the wifes. We spent long hours and days together talking about what was the best strategy to liberate our husbands. We were sure that writing and talking about our reality was a great tool to overcome our fears and to fight ideologically.
