Venezuelans go to the polls today to elect their next president. Many polls have Hugo Chavez in the lead, but challenger Henrique Capriles has a chance of upsetting him.
Cuba will feel it if Chavez loses. Venezuela is Cuba's most important economic and political ally. Capriles would certainly cut back the multibillion-dollar subsidies that Venezuela sends Cuba every year.
I shot these photos at a protest in Caracas during the failed Chavez recall attempt in 2004. The size of the crowds at opposition rallies seems to have grown since then.
