Cuba money: $6.7 million for artists, writers

The Office of Cuba Broadcasting gave $6,781,861.30 to writers, artists, journalists, analysts and others from Jan. 15, 2001, to Nov. 21, 2012.
I suspect that only a tiny fraction of this money reaches journalists and others in Cuba. The contracts list $33,195 for miscellaneous foreign contractors. That money was paid from Oct. 19, 2011, to Nov. 21, 2012.
I plotted the contracts on a map, above. See the data and map of vendor cities here in Google Docs, where it's easier to scroll through the names and numbers.
These contracts fall under a category entitled, "Independent Artists, Writers and Performers."
In PDF form, the contracts fill 1,197 pages (download PDF). Or download a csv table containing the contracts. You can use Excel or Numbers to read it, although it's a large file and may cause the program to crash.
