Petition asks for dialogue with Cuba

A new petition asks the White House to hold talks with the Cuban government to secure the release of Alan Gross.
What's interesting about this petition is that
it's posted on a White House website aimed at giving Americans a voice in government.
It works like this:

  • Collect 150 signatures in 30 days and the petition will be searchable on the whitehouse.gov.
  • Collect 25,000 signatures and the White House will be required to respond to the petition.

The White House website states:
We created We the People because we want to hear from you. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.
What a great idea.
